INDIANAPOLIS -- The University of Wisconsin women's basketball team will attempt to go where no UW team has gone when it faces top-seeded Ohio State tonight in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament at Conseco Fieldhouse.
The Badgers are in the semifinals for the third time in the 16-year history of the tournament. They've never advanced any further.
Wisconsin lost to Penn State 76-62 in the 2002 semifinals and last year they fell to Purdue 70-56.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Terrelle Pryor wanted to know the score.
"I hope Purdue loses," the Ohio State quarterback said Sunday afternoon. Told the Boilermakers were trailing Michigan State, Pryor said, "That's good then."
"I'm just happy the girls are in and now we need the guys coming in. I'm sure they'll get it done," Pryor said.
Actually, Pryor and the football Buckeyes were in first, winning their fifth straight Big Ten title in the fall. Then the OSU women's ... Read More

By: AP via TheSpread.com -- COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -Watch 30 seconds of highlights from an Ohio State game and you'd think the Buckeyes had four guys who wear No. 21.
Need a rebound? Evan Turner will get it. A defensive stop? Ditto. An assist? A big bucket? Turner will provide those, too.
Few if any teams in the nation depend more on one player than No. 9 Ohio State does on Evan Turner. It's not a secret, either.

The Big Ten is a guard-heavy conference—everyone knows that.
The league boasts some of the best men in the business: Michigan State's Kalin Lucas, Purdue's Etwaun Moore, and Illinois' Demetri McCamey.
All three men are certainly in the mix for the league's prestigious "player of the year" honor, but there's another name that has stood out for the last half of the season: Ohio State's Evan Turner.
After his superb showing in East Lansing last Sunday (74-67 OSU win) while fighting ... Read More

By: Doug Lesmerises (Cleveland Plain Dealer) -- WEST CHESTER, Ohio -- As soon as he decided to become a Buckeye, Christian Bryant went to work. On Tuesday, the Glenville defensive back gave his oral commitment to Ohio State and started calling Cincinnati-area linebacker Jordan Hicks, the next major in-state recruit he wanted to see join him in Columbus.
Bryant said Hicks never called him back. As anticipated, Hicks announced at a news conference at West Chester Lakota West High School on Friday that ... Read More

At least four future Ohio State Buckeyes and 22 high school seniors from the seven-county area will take part what is becoming a weekend football festival for the North-South Ohio Classic in April.
The traditional high school all-star game is moving away from a conflict with the Big 33 Classic against Pennsylvania in June and will be played at Ohio Stadium on Friday, April 23. That is one day before Ohio State's spring football game.

I just saw a story in these pages where Ohio State’s recruiting in football has taken an uncharacteristic dip.
Accustomed to locking up top-10 classes almost every year, the Buckeyes’ current group is rated only 22nd nationally by Rivals.com, behind Big Ten arch-nemeses Michigan (19th) and Penn State (9th) and other programs with much lower profiles such as Stanford (18th), Missouri (14th) and Texas A&M (10th).
That won’t matter next season — OSU is expected to go into ... Read More

By: Adam Rittenberg (ESPN.com) -- LOS ANGELES -- Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh put the defensive tackle position on the map this season, bull rushing his way to the Heisman Trophy presentation.
Suh had the amazing ability to dominate games, namely the Big 12 championship against Texas, from a position that largely goes unnoticed. Anyone who watched Ohio State's matchups with Penn State and USC this fall saw the same type of dominance from Buckeyes defensive tackle Cameron Heyward.
The 6-6, 287-pound Heyward often looked like ... Read More

Three conference teams are ranked, including Ohio State.

Big Ten basketball is back — conference games start Tuesday night with Purdue at Iowa and Penn State at Minnesota — and that leads to the annual holiday season question:
How good is the Big Ten?
“I think our league has done a good job, but not a great one,” Purdue coach Matt Painter said. “There are some games a couple teams would like to have back. There were a couple of games we surprised ... Read More

As a team Ohio State played well enough this year to earn a berth to its first Rose Bowl since 1996 but according to the AP, the Buckeyes lacked the individual performances to warrant one single All-American.
The Buckeyes finished the season at 10-2, winning the Big Ten Conference title for the fifth straight time, yet this Ohio State team seemed to be short on the star power of past versions.
Terrelle Pryor was the pre-season Big Ten offensive player ... Read More

New Years' Day in 2006 was the last day that Ohio State has won a BCS bowl game, a 34-20 blowout over Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.
Since then, Ohio State has been blown out in shocking fashion one year, over-matched and overrun the next, and fell one minute short of pulling a huge upset on the national bowl spotlight.
But Buckeye Nation has high hopes that the tide will finally turn and 2009 can be the start of ... Read More
