COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Thaddeus Gibson was the Buckeyes player most of the 29 NFL teams on hand came to see at Ohio State's pro day workouts Friday. He did not disappoint.
The Pittsburgh Steelers were the most visibly interested. They were in full force, with Kevin Colbert, VP of football operations, leading a contingent that included defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau and two other coaches.
As if sensing their presence, Gibson, of Euclid, entered the Woody Hayes Athletic Center ... Read More

By: Jemele Hill (ESPN.com) -- When ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tim Tebow changed his throwing motion to become a better NFL quarterback prospect, the debate raged about whether Urban Meyer and the Florida coaching staff had done enough to make Tebow NFL ready.
I believe they did. College coaches do have a responsibility to help their players transition to the NFL, the same responsibility chemistry professors have to equip students for the real world. Meyer made an earnest effort with Tebow, hiring Scot ... Read More

From: ESPN.com news services -- Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor said a routine surgery to strengthen a partially torn posterior cruciate ligament three weeks ago turned into a more extensive procedure once the doctor found unexpected issues.
Pryor, who revealed before the Rose Bowl he had been dealing with a slight PCL injury, said Sunday at a team charity event in Columbus, Ohio, that the arthroscopy was performed on his left knee, not the right as the school announced in early February.

Anything worth having is worth waiting for.
That old maxim applies to both Carlos Hyde’s yearlong wait to take the field with his Ohio State football teammates and also to the wait Buckeye fans have endured to see him suit up.
Because when he does suit up, Carlos Hyde is impressive indeed.
At an imposing 6-feet-1-inch and 230 pounds, Hyde is the type of big, physical back that gives opposing defensive coordinators fits, as well as any defensive backs unlucky ... Read More

The Buckeyes added 19 players in the 2010 recruiting class, but none might excite the fans as much as Roderick Smith.
The Big Ten is a conference that has traditionally been centered around powerful running games. With Smith, Ohio State should continue that trend.
The 6-foot-3-inch, 220 pound running back from Fort Wayne, Ind. has many fans dreaming of another Chris “Beanie” Wells.
Wells led the Buckeyes to two Big Ten Championships in his time as a starter at OSU, and ... Read More

The Ohio State coaching staff extended a flurry of scholarship offers late last week. Bucknuts.com had the news first that the OSU staff had offered offensive lineman Chris Carter Jr. (Cleveland, Ohio/John F. Kennedy), defensive end/offensive lineman Chase Farris (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) and tight end Nick Vannett (Westerville, Ohio/Central).
All three are certainly strong candidates to become Buckeyes, but the first to fall Ohio State's way may be Farris.
The 6-foot-6 and 265-pound Farris was a starter at defensive tackle his ... Read More

Dear Ohio State: Drop the "The"
This Sunday, as nearly 100 million Americans tune in to the Super Bowl, CBS will likely utilize a popular procedure for introducing the starting lineups, with each player stating his name and then his alma mater. Peculiarly, when Will Smith of the New Orleans Saints and Anthony Gonzalez of the Indianapolis Colts introduce themselves, they'll feel it necessary to include what's known by English majors as an article adjective to qualify the ... By: Todd Porter (CantonRep.com) -- As Jim Tressel discussed his 2010 recruiting class Wednesday, it wasn’t a secret he was still waiting on one more player.
Eighteen top high school seniors were in hand, but Tressel said 19 would be perfect. As Tressel spoke, though, the odds got slimmer the nation’s top-rated offensive lineman and maybe the top overall recruit would choose Ohio State.
Then, Seantrel Henderson, a 6-foot-8, 305-pound brickhouse of a left tackle from Cretin-Derham in St. Paul, Minn., chose Southern Cal ... Read More

ENTERVILLE — After leaving the Miami Valley without an Ohio State football recruit this year for the first time since 1998, the Buckeyes are increasing their desire for the area Class of 2011.
