Ohio State, Michigan, Oregon, and Penn State.
These were four of the most powerful football schools in the country. They were four schools that even the most jaded and big headed high school recruits would be honored to receive a scholarship offer from.
Their lofty stature seemed irrelevant, however, when it came to the anticipation they all had for the decision of one young Pennsylvania teenager. They all sat with bated breath waiting for ... Read More

By: MATT MARKEY (Toledo Blade) -- COLUMBUS - For any commander, those guys guarding the perimeter are critically important to the entire operation. They are the sentries out on the frontier, essentially alone on an island.
In football, that's the cornerbacks. They are the one man to beat for offenses attempting to strike quickly and take the least-impeded route to the end zone.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel has put his trust in seniors Chimdi Chekwa and Devon Torrence to protect the outer limits ... Read More

This is the year for the Buckeyes. If you look at the competition and the way the schedule sets up for Jim Tressel and Ohio State, they have a favorable lineup that could earn them a spot in Glendale, Arizona in early January.
Terrell Pryor is starting to become a dual-threat quarterback who is equally effective throwing the ball in the pocket as he is tucking it and running. Coming in as a true ... Read More

The media predicted Ohio State will notch its sixth consecutive Big Ten title when they ranked the Buckeyes No. 1 in the conference preseason poll at the annual Big Ten meetings in Chicago on Monday.
Along with choosing OSU as the team to beat, the media tabbed Buckeye quarterback Terrelle Pryor as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. The junior led OSU to a 26-17 Rose Bowl victory over Oregon, a game in which he ... Read More

BY: MATTHEW HORN (TheNews-Messenger.com) -- Good things come to those who wait.
That doesn't mean something great can't come in the meantime.
Woodmore graduate Ben St. John recently received a letter from Ohio State's football program illustrating this. St. John, an offensive lineman, anticipated he might not be called to work out with the Buckeyes until after the first game against Marshall but instead received the letter this month inviting him to report to camp Aug. 4.

From: LancasterEagleGazette.com -- LEXINGTON -- It didn't take long for Marcus Freeman to fall into character as a football coach.
He got down at eye level with his players, counting off the pushups as they hit the ground at the end of each drill.
"If I tell you to pick your nose, pick your nose," barked the former Ohio State linebacker as his troops -- a bunch of grade-schoolers -- hung on his every word.

The 2002 national championship game is controversial because Ohio State won by a referee’s bad call. Not a missed call, a bad call.
It came four seconds after the game ended, while the Hurricanes were celebrating victory. If it were a blatant penalty in a big game, a flag would have been thrown immediately.
Miami fans agree it was a bad call. Ohio State fans rationalize that the referees missed a call earlier in the ... Read More

SATIRE — Maybe it's the years of winning, maybe it's the lack of a MLB or an NFL franchise in C-bus, whatever it may be, there's certainly a fever amongst Buckeye football fans that surpasses the norm.
